Abineet RamDear Sequoia Awards,
I was one of your winners in 2012. Your scholarship has greatly helped my family. I am currently a freshman at UC Davis, and I’m just checking in about how college is going. I am on the track and field team; we are a Division 1 sport so most of my life is either training, studying, eating, or sleeping. I am having a blast here at Davis! I’ve made many new friends and grown even closer to old friends who also attend here. In general, life is good!
Thank you!

Claire TweedyI am extremely grateful for the Sequoia Award I received. Without the Sequoia Award attending Pepperdine University would not have been possible. The Sequoia award dramatically reduced my first year student borrowing and made a college education affordable and thus possible. The Sequoia Awards is doing an amazing thing for the Redwood City community and I feel so blessed and honored to have been able to benefit from it.

I continued serving the American Cancer Society, volunteering as a tutor at Camp David Gonzales (a juvenile probation school and rehabilitation facility Coordinator leading a Big Brother Big Sister program and a food delivery service to a nearby homeless shelter.

Getting the award helped me because it made me and my family pays less for college, so I could spend that money on other things like my architecture supplies which are not included in the tuition. I love UC Berkeley, and I am doing great.

Receiving a Sequoia Award was such encouragement as I began my college experience. It was so nice knowing that my community was supporting me as I began this new chapter in my life. Now completing my third year at the University of San Diego, I am so proud to be a recipient of this award. I have had the most amazing college experience and have even decided to graduate a semester early and take a few months off to travel the world.

Thank you so much Sequoia Awards and to the kind people who are the financial supports of this organization.

Sincerely,
Lyra Tanner

Hello!

I received the My Sequoia Award in 2009. I now attend UCSB and am going to be a junior (already!). I also joined a club called “Active Minds” whose goal is to reduce the stigma regarding mental health issues. My freshman year I was on the executive board as “Head of Outreach,” and this past year I was President of Active Minds. I am beyond grateful for receiving the Sequoia Award.

Thank you!
